Both surfaces are planed flat and square....

...then fine tuned until they meet perfectly.

The control cavity and neck socket are routed out prior to the body shape being cut.

The body has been cut to shape and the bandsaw marks must be sanded out.

Ian is preparing the underside of the fingerboard.

The fingerboard is glued on and the neck is reduced to the fingerboard outline.

The neck is shaped using rasps and spokeshave.

Having seen the effect of string tension on the neck the frets are stoned.

The guitar is assembled 'in the white', ie without finish for testing.

With all tested and working well the guitar is sanded ready for finishing.

The fiished guitar is ready to play.

The guitar is assembled for a trial stringing. Note the paper shims in the join which allow for the thickness of lacquer in the finished instrument.
