Kieran has joined and thicknessed the front and is cutting a channel for the soundhole decoration.

The strips of rosewood and maple are glued in with animal glue...

...and scraped down flush with the front.

The spruce braces are glued to the front and planed to height. They will then be shaped and scalloped to give the front the correct balance between responsiveness and strength.

Kieran is shaping the heel. This area is inaccessible once the neck is glued to the body and needs to be shaped prior to assembly.

The sides are bent around a hot iron...

...and the shaped is continuously checked against the template.

The frets are tapped in with a soft faced hammer.

The trial stringing is done with false saddles which enable perfect intonation to be set.
